All You Need to Know:

Appointment Information

"Rehabilitation is not a setback, but a step forward in a new direction" - E.Dixon

Before your treatment

If your horse is currently under veterinary care for treatment or ongoing investigations, and this treatment is part of their rehabilitation, prior to your horses treatment, as stated by law, veterinary permission is required before the session can commence.

Erin will send you a link to an onboarding form and you must complete with details of your veterinarian. Erin will contact the vet with an additional permission form prior to your appointment taking place.

If your horse is in good health, and the session is more for a maintenance treatment and you will be required to fill out an onboarding form in full detail to obtain relevant history that Erin may need to be made aware of, prior to the assessment taking place.

Initial Assessments & Treatments

Your horses first treatment will require a background/history conversation at the beginning of the session, this is where Erin will learn more about the horse and have a chance for the horse to get used to her presence. Erin will conduct an initial full body palpation and joint range of motion check.

You may be required to perform a dynamic assessment (a walk, trot, back up and small circle) if Erin deems it necessary to see the horse move. In this case, you will need an area that is fairly level and long enough to conduct a few good strides to collect pace.

A second palpation will take place to look for any areas of restriction or reactivity before a plan is created for treatment.

Treatment may include manual massage techniques (hands - on), myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, joint mobilisation, stretching and low level laser therapy. No two treatments are ever the same, so it will be dependent on the restriction that the horse is displaying.

Please allow for up to an hour and a half for an initial assessment so that Erin can provide an in-depth treatment.

Horses are all individual and although most relax into their session, some react in different ways to tension relief. It may not be until after the session concludes that you notice full relaxation from your horse, and for others, it may take a few sessions.

Please ensure that the horse is clean and dry at the time of the appointment.

It is advised that after each session, the horse is kept warm to allow the muscles time to respond and where possible, the horse to be turned out or walked in-hand for 10 minutes. The horse can continue ridden work 24 hours after the appointment, unless otherwise instructed.
